LeBron arrives: Sixers declare title ambitions with James signing

LeBron James is officially a Philadelphia 76er, a landmark move confirmed by President of Basketball Operations Mike Gansey. The NBA’s all‑time leading scorer arrives with 43,440 points and unmatched longevity: 21 All‑NBA selections, 22 All‑Star appearances and four championships, each paired with Finals MVP honors across three franchises.

Owner Josh Harris welcomed him with a bold message, calling James “one of the greatest athletes ever” and praising his iconic résumé, from Olympic golds to historic scoring records. Harris highlighted the new core featuring James, Jaylen Brown, VJ Edgecombe, Joel Embiid and Tyrese Maxey, expressing confidence in a title run.

Gansey emphasized James’s leadership, professionalism and impact on and off the court, noting their long connection since high school. Across 23 seasons, James has averaged 26.8 points, 7.5 rebounds and 7.4 assists, while setting postseason records for points, wins and series. He will wear No. 23 in Philadelphia.
