Doc Rivers will part ways with the Milwaukee Bucks at the end of the season, closing a stint that never matched expectations. Hired in December 2023 as an advisor to Adrian Griffin, who was surprisingly fired despite leading the East, Rivers soon took over but failed to spark real improvement. Beyond the NBA Cup win in December 2024, a success many consider minor, his résumé in Wisconsin is thin: a first‑round playoff exit last year and a team far from postseason contention now.
NBA insider Mark Stein reports that the Bucks’ leadership has lost faith in Rivers’ direction and sees no viable future under him. A Hall of Fame-bound coach with past success in Orlando, Boston, Los Angeles, and Philadelphia, Rivers will now make way for Taylor Jenkins. The former Memphis coach, unemployed since his 2023 dismissal, is expected to take charge in Milwaukee.
