The Boston Celtics announced on Friday that forward Grant Williams had successful hand surgery, which is likely to keep him out of action for many weeks. The 24-year-old’s left-hand injury during the Eastern Conference Finals matchup between Boston and the Miami Heat was addressed by surgery, which repaired a ruptured ligament. Williams will be prohibited from basketball-related activities for six to eight weeks, according to the Celtics, but he is anticipated to fully recover in time for the fall NBA training camp.
Williams' previous season was both fruitful and incredibly puzzling. The Tennessee native achieved career highs in points (8.1), rebounds (4.6), assists (1.7), and minutes played (25.6) on the one hand. Williams, however, took a little backseat in comparison to his role with prior head coach Ime Udoka. Now with uncertainty looming about his future, the Celtics and Williams both have a lot to think about.
