LeBron James' potential exit from the NBA this off-season does not appear to be something NBA management is really considering. James startled the media last week by declining to affirm that he will return for a 21st season. He will make a decision about his future in the coming weeks.
James' season came to an end when his Los Angeles Lakers were eliminated from the playoffs and lost to the Denver Nuggets in the Western Conference Finals. Nikola Jokic was the star player and outperformed James and Anthony Davis in all four games as the Denver Nuggets won the series. That was despite James' valiant effort, who scored 31 points in the first half of the first postseason half of his career at the age of 39. James retiring would be a devastating blow to the Lakers, but it seems NBA executives do not believe this is at all realistic.
