Steven Adams, a centre with the Memphis Grizzlies, hasn't played since he injured his knee on January 22 while diving for a loose ball. At the time, it was anticipated that he would be out for three to five weeks. Adams was only able to play in 42 games last season and will now also be sidelined for the full 2023–24 league season. Adams will shortly have surgery to repair the posterior cruciate ligament in his damaged right knee, according to the Grizzlies. Non-operative therapy "did not resolve ongoing knee instability," according to the release.
Adams, 30, is anticipated to be ready to go for the 2024–25 season, the last year of his contract. Last season, when the Grizzlies' starting centre suffered an injury, Xavier Tillman was given the opportunity to start 29 games and log a career-high 19.3 minutes per contest.
