The Washington Wizards have signed forward Saddiq Bey to a three-year, $20 million contract, per ESPN’s Adrian Wojnarowski. Bey, a native of Largo, Maryland, and former Sidwell Friends standout, joins the team at 25 years old after averaging 13.7 points and 6.5 rebounds for the Atlanta Hawks last season. Despite a drop in his three-point shooting to 31% following a stellar 40% mark the previous year, Bey brings a physical presence and floor-spacing ability.
However, a March 2024 ACL tear will likely sideline him for much, if not all, of the upcoming season as he rehabilitates. This signing, negotiated by GM Will Dawkins at approximately $6.6 million annually, presents another cost-effective addition to Washington's roster. With decisions pending on Tyus Jones and Anthony Gill, the Wizards face roster adjustments ahead of the October season start.
