Ainsworth and Hamilton break through

Chloe Ainsworth and Lucy Hamilton have earned their first central contracts as Cricket Australia confirmed its 18‑player list for 2026–27, signalling a refreshed investment in emerging talent. The board made three changes from last season, also formalising Nicola Carey’s upgrade after her strong West Indies tour. Missing out were Tayla Vlaeminck and Tess Flintoff, while former captain Alyssa Healy has stepped away from international cricket.

National selector Shawn Flegler praised the newcomers’ domestic impact and stressed that Vlaeminck and Flintoff remain firmly in the selection frame despite not receiving renewals. Over the next year, Australia faces a demanding schedule: a T20 World Cup in England, home white‑ball series against Bangladesh and New Zealand, plus away tours to Sri Lanka and South Africa. The updated contract list reflects both continuity and strategic regeneration as Australia prepares for another intense international cycle.
