Bumrah returns as India target Asian Games gold

India have named Jasprit Bumrah in a powerful squad for the 2026 Asian Games in Japan, marking his return after being rested for the Ireland and England tours. Bumrah will spearhead the bowling unit, while Mohammed Siraj and Prince Yadav, both included for the UK trips, have been left out for this tournament.

At the previous Asian Games in Hangzhou, India fielded a second‑string side due to overlap with the ODI World Cup, and Ruturaj Gaikwad guided that team to a memorable Gold medal. This year’s event will take place in Japan’s Aichi prefecture, with Nagoya serving as the central venue. The cricket competition is scheduled from September 19 to October 4, offering India another opportunity to assert regional dominance with a far stronger and more experienced squad.
