Legendary former captain Meg Lanning, famous for guiding Australia to seven major ICC championships, is stepping into a mentorship position. She has officially joined the national coaching setup as a development coach for the forthcoming Under-19 tri-series involving rivals England and Sri Lanka. While Lanning retired from international duties in November 2023, she is still competing in franchise tournaments worldwide. She will support head coach Kristen Beams and assistants Lisa Keightley and Clive Rose.
This series runs from March 30 until April 18, utilizing venues in Brisbane and the Gold Coast. The schedule includes a warmup game, four T20s, plus two one-day matches. Selectors announced a fourteen-member squad, prioritizing talented youngsters who shone during the domestic summer. Crucially, these specific players remain eligible for next year’s Under-19 World Cup. Lanning’s immense tactical knowledge and leadership experience will provide incredible guidance for these promising teenage cricketers as they develop their careers.
