West Indies legend Kieron Pollard has joined MI Emirates as a wildcard alongside Nicholas Pooran for the upcoming ILT20. The 38-year-old takes over captaincy from Pooran, collaborating with coach Robin Singh.
As the T20 format's most capped player with 720 matches, Pollard brings massive experience. He has scored 14,237 runs with a 151.23 strike rate, sitting just 325 runs behind Chris Gayle’s record. Additionally, the all-rounder has taken 333 career wickets, including eight four-wicket hauls. Beyond these two, the franchise added Caribbean talents Romario Shepherd, Ackeem Auguste, and Andre Fletcher.
Notably, wicketkeeper Fletcher commanded the highest auction bid of USD 260,000. MI Emirates are set to begin their campaign against the Gulf Giants in Dubai on December 4. This strategic leadership change signals a fresh direction as the squad prepares for the upcoming tournament, relying heavily on their experienced core of dynamic West Indian power-hitters to secure the championship trophy.
