FocusMe survives the playin stage to become the first LJL team to do so

Minor regions are here to play, DetonatioN FocusMe proves just that as they advance to the League of Legends World Championship’s group stage. The underdogs won the tiebreaker against Cloud9 to become the first Japanese League of Legends team to go to the group stage. From the minor regions, DFM had garnered a lot of interest before, with their aggressive playing style but they could not conquer C9 before and avenged that this time around. 

The LCS third seed had entered the match with high hopes despite the loss to LCL’s Unicorns of Love earlier but could not overcome a destructive-looking DFM. C9 enjoyed a good lead of 3,000 gold by the 20-minute mark but FocusMe’s unassailable five-vs-five skills helped them pull off a big upset.
