Schalke leaves LEC and sells their spot to Team BDS in a €26.5 million deal

Schalke 04’s financial woes finally caught up with them as the Organisation is forced to withdraw from League of Legends and offers its LEC spot to Team BDS in a whooping €26.5 million deal. It took six months of consistent negotiations for Schalke to look in Team BDS for the second-largest franchise deal in Western history. The esports team would be leaving the league at the end of the season as they try to manage the financial blow pandemic dealt them with.

They even sold mid laner Abbedagge to 100 Thieves for $1 million in April but it did not offer a long-term solution to the organization that is also suffering is Bundesliga. The Swiss organization had first entered the League in 2020 after they acquired the La Ligue Française slot from Bastille Legacy. The sale is the second largest after Echo Fox sold to EG in September 2019 for $33 million. The organization is hopeful of keeping its Academy team alive in Prime League as of now as well the future of the staff also remains uncertain.
