Arsenal crush Lille 3-0 after second-half surge

Arsenal continued their impressive European campaign with a 3-0 victory over Lille at the Emirates Stadium on Tuesday, overcoming stubborn resistance before delivering a ruthless attacking display.

Mikel Arteta initially rested Martin Odegaard, Bukayo Saka and Kai Havertz, but the visitors proved difficult to break down. Lille defended resolutely and briefly threatened through Ayase Ueda, whose goal was disallowed for offside.

With Arsenal struggling to create clear chances, Arteta introduced Odegaard, Saka and Havertz in the 65th minute. The decision immediately transformed the contest.

Just one minute later, Jurrien Timber broke the deadlock with an outstanding individual finish. Eberechi Eze doubled Arsenal’s advantage following excellent combination play with Saka, before the England international completed the scoring in the 71st minute.

The emphatic victory strengthened Arsenal’s position in the Champions League league phase, while Lille were left reflecting on a frustrating evening after defending effectively for much of the contest.
