PEC Zwolle have dismissed head coach Henry van der Vegt, becoming the first Eredivisie club this season to change managers following a difficult start to the campaign.
After eight league matches, Zwolle sit 16th with one victory and five defeats, having conceded 21 goals. Their struggles included a record 7-0 home loss to Feyenoord, followed by a 1-0 defeat against newly promoted Cambuur.
Technical director Gerry Hamstra explained that the club had seen insufficient stability and progress on the pitch, while thanking van der Vegt for his longstanding contribution.
Appointed in June 2025 after six years as assistant coach, van der Vegt guided Zwolle to 15th place last season, finishing five points above relegation. Across 44 matches in charge, his record included 22 wins and 11 defeats.
Zwolle must now prepare for Sunday's IJsselderby against Go Ahead Eagles, with the search for a new manager becoming an immediate priority as the club seeks to improve its league position.
