Michael Carrick has described Manchester United’s 1-1 Premier League draw against Leeds United as a step forward, despite his team’s continuing struggles. United travelled to Elland Road on Sunday seeking a much-needed victory but left with just one point.
The result extends their winless run to six games across all competitions, leaving the club 13th in the Premier League standings and intensifying scrutiny of Carrick’s leadership.
Speaking to NBC Sports after the match, the manager acknowledged the difficult atmosphere and admitted his players had not consistently reached their highest performance level.
Nevertheless, Carrick highlighted several encouraging passages of play, praising his squad’s determination in challenging circumstances. “It’s a tough place to come,” he explained, adding that there were positive elements to build upon despite recent results.
Although pressure continues to mount, Carrick believes the performance provides a foundation for improvement as United seek to rediscover consistency and climb the table.
