PSG clinch UEFA Super Cup to cement continental dominance

Paris Saint‑Germain began the new campaign by securing yet another European honour, defeating Aston Villa 2–1 to claim a second straight UEFA Super Cup. Fresh from celebrating their second Champions League crown, the French champions approached the match with confidence and composure, ultimately proving too strong for the Premier League side.

The victory reinforces PSG’s growing dominance on the international stage, following last year’s dramatic shoot‑out win over Tottenham in the same competition. It also adds to Luis Enrique’s extraordinary haul since arriving in Paris, with the Spaniard now boasting thirteen trophies, including three Ligue 1 titles, two Coupes de France, three Trophées des Champions, two European Super Cups, a FIFA Intercontinental Cup and those landmark Champions League triumphs. Despite the celebrations, PSG’s schedule offers little respite. A French Super Cup clash with Lens awaits this weekend, before the champions begin their Ligue 1 defence against the same opponent on August 23.
