Robert Covington has put pen to paper for a two-year extension with the Los Angeles Clippers worth $24 million. The former Portland Trail Blazers player was set to hit the unrestricted free agency this summer but instead would stay put with Los Angeles for a while. After the extension LA’s luxury tax bill took a jump from $17.8 million to $54.9 million. The team is hoping to make a comeback next season with a healthier-looking Kawhi Leonard and Paul George.
Covington took part in 23 matches for the franchise and averaged 10.4 points, shooting 45 percent of three-pointers, 5.1 rebounds, 1 assist, 1.3 steals, and 1.2 blocks. His time at the club also included a career-high 43 points along with a franchise-record of 11 3-pointers while the team took on the Milwaukee Bucks on April 1.
