Mason Plumlee, a Clippers center, has a left knee MCL sprain and will return to Los Angeles this week for additional treatment. Plumlee went down in the third quarter of Monday's 111-97 defeat to the Knicks when Julius Randle collided with his left leg near at Madison Square Garden.
Plumlee had to be taken off the floor immediately and was transported to the locker room, grimacing in pain after what seemed to be a major left knee injury at first. The 33-year-old now leaves a gap in the frontcourt for weeks and Clippers would have to rely on backup center Moussa Diabate, and newly acquired P.J. Tucker, to see more playing time behind center Ivica Zubac. The 6-foot-10 player was averaging 5 points and 5.5 rebounds in 17 minutes of playing time through the first six games of his 11th season for the Clippers this season.
