Toumani Camara and Shaedon Sharpe, two players of the Portland Trail Blazers' youthful core, are included in future plans of the club. The Pacific Northwest-based team also inked Javonte Cooke to a two-way contract just days before the 2025–26 season officially began. At Winston-Salem State, Cooke was a standout student. He is only the second active NBA player to have attended a Division II university for four years after landing this deal with the Trail Blazers. The Brooklyn Nets' Haywood Highsmith is the other person.
Cooke has excelled in the G League over the past three years after being undrafted in 2023. This includes scoring more than 16.5 points per game on average with the Iowa Wolves in 2023–24 and the Oklahoma City Blue the previous season. The six-foot-six guard, who played for the Thunder's G League club, dominated the stat sheet by averaging 5.0 rebounds, 2.6 assists, and 1.0 steals a game.
