According to NBA source Law Murray of The Athletic, the Los Angeles Clippers were prepared to sell Marcus Morris, Amir Coffey, and a 2023 draught choice to the Boston Celtics in exchange for Malcolm Brogdon. However, after having Brogdon examined medically, the Clippers decided against the deal. The tendon that leaves Brogdon's right elbow and travels into his forearm has a partial tear. Last year, Brogdon took home the NBA Sixth Man of the Year Award. In 67 games for the Celtics, he averaged 14.9 points, 4.2 rebounds, and 3.7 assists while shooting 48.4% from the field, 44.4% from outside the arc, and 87.0% from the line.
In October 2021, Brogdon, the Milwaukee Bucks' 2016–17 NBA Rookie of the Year, agreed to a two-year, $85 million deal extension with the Indiana Pacers. Next season, he will earn $22.5 million.
