Delhi Capitals have appointed former leg-spinner Amit Mishra as their new spin bowling coach, adding another experienced name to a coaching staff undergoing significant changes ahead of the next IPL season.
Mishra featured in 162 matches across 16 IPL seasons, beginning with the competition’s inaugural edition in 2008. He spent 10 seasons with Delhi, then known as the Delhi Daredevils, before concluding his tournament career in 2024.
The veteran claimed 174 wickets, including a best return of five for 17, and remains the only player in IPL history to record three hat-tricks, representing Delhi, Deccan Chargers and Sunrisers Hyderabad.
His appointment follows the arrivals of Sourav Ganguly as head coach, Yuvraj Singh as assistant coach and Chaminda Vaas as fast bowling coach.
Delhi’s spin options, including Zeeshan Ansari, Vipraj Nigam and Rehan Ahmed, could benefit from Mishra’s expertise as the franchise prepares for its next campaign.
