BIG has announced that Alexander "kakafu" Szymanczyk, the team's current assistant coach, will replace longtime member Fatih "gob b" Dayik as head coach prior to IEM Dallas. The German strategist was one of the original members of BIG when he arrived in 2017 and played and coached for the company in Counter-Strike for three separate periods.
Before leaving Counter-Strike to focus on a career at VALORANT, he participated in four Majors as a player and advanced to the second round of both PGL Major Krakow 2017 and FACEIT Major 2018. He continued to remain involved as a coach for BIG Academy, but in May 2022 he made a full-time return, aiding the team in rising to the seventh rank in the world and taking home the online Roobet Cup 2022. However, the team's performance dried up in the last few months as they rotated through ten players in a year, failing to find the right combination to propel them back up the standings and compel BIG to make the move.
