Stroll quashes speculation regarding a Horner move to Aston Martin

Lawrence Stroll recently addressed Aston Martin staff to confirm Christian Horner will not join the team, dismissing ongoing speculation following his Red Bull exit. Instead, Aston Martin has restructured: Adrian Newey is now Team Principal, while Andy Cowell focuses on the 2026 Honda partnership.

Stroll plans to maintain this hierarchy, excluding Horner, who was replaced by Laurent Mekies after twenty years. Although rumors linked Horner to Aston Martin, Ferrari, and Alpine, and despite past friction with Newey regarding credit-taking and scandals, their relationship has seemingly recovered.

Speaking to Sky Sports, Newey insisted the principal role would not hinder his technical focus. Because Cowell volunteered to manage the complex Honda-Aramco alliance, and Newey attends the races anyway, assuming the top leadership position was a logical adjustment to his workload. This strategic decision establishes Aston Martin’s management plans for next year, leaving absolutely no room for the ousted former Red Bull boss.
