Leeds frustrated Arsenal for much of the match and took the lead through James Justin early in the second half. However, Riccardo Calafiori equalised before substitute Bruno Guimaraes completed the turnaround with the winner in the 70th minute. Arteta described Leeds as “incredible”, highlighting their physicality, commitment and attacking threat. He also credited the introductions of Guimaraes, Jurrien Timber and Viktor Gyokeres for changing the game, bringing leadership, energy and greater attacking penetration.
The victory offered a strong response to Arsenal’s recent 3-0 defeat to Brighton and maintained momentum heading into the international break.
