Portugal’s Football Federation has opened disciplinary proceedings against Cristiano Ronaldo after his controversial exit from the national team camp. The governing body confirmed that the forward has been placed under provisional suspension and that the case will be handled as a matter of urgency.
The issue stems from Ronaldo’s departure on 30 September following disagreements with Portugal coach Jorge Jesus. Reports indicated tensions arose after the veteran attacker was left on the bench for the match against Norway and spent around 30 minutes warming up without entering the game.
The case has now been referred to the federation’s Disciplinary Investigation Committee, which will determine any further action. Ronaldo later addressed the situation publicly, explaining the reasons behind his decision and acknowledging he would accept any punishment imposed. Despite the ongoing process, the former Real Madrid star suggested he remains open to returning to international duty in future.
