The Ghana Football Association (GFA) has confirmed that an interim coaching staff will lead the Black Stars during their November 2026 AFCON qualifiers while the search for a permanent manager continues.
The decision follows Carlos Queiroz’s departure after Ghana suffered consecutive defeats in September, losing 2-0 to Ivory Coast before falling 4-2 to The Gambia. Those results left the national team bottom of Group C without a point after two matches.
The GFA has extended the application deadline for the permanent position until 15 October, with candidates expected to undergo further assessment throughout October and November. The recruitment committee will evaluate applicants on coaching expertise, leadership, cultural awareness and performance standards, seeking a candidate capable of establishing a clear football identity.
Ghana will face Somalia in November as they attempt to revive their qualification hopes and avoid missing consecutive AFCON tournaments following their absence in 2025.
