Khalid Aucho, who announced retirement on October 12th after 13 years, has been named in Uganda's squad for AFCON qualifiers against Botswana.
The former captain, capped 77 times since debuting against Rwanda at the 2013 CECAFA Cup, said wearing the black, yellow and red had been the greatest privilege and it was time for a new generation.
Yet coach Paul Put included the Sidama Coffee midfielder for the Group H double-header, hosting Botswana at Hoima City Stadium on November 14. FUFA said the occasion will honour a leader marked by commitment and pride as Uganda chases a place at the 2027 AFCON finals.
Aucho helped end Uganda's 38-year AFCON wait, featured at three tournaments, and famously scored an overhead kick from his own penalty box against Botswana in 2016 qualifying.
