Zidane's unworn 2006 World Cup final shirt hits auction

Aguttes is offering an unworn shirt prepared for Zinedine Zidane for the 2006 World Cup final against Italy, the last match of his career, with bidding until November 7.

The kit, bearing number 10, was prepared for the Berlin showpiece on July 9, 2006, a final decided on penalties for the Azzurri. It proved a bitter farewell, as Zidane received a straight red for headbutting Marco Materazzi.

While accounts differed, the Frenchman maintained Materazzi had insulted his mother and sister.

"Witness to Zidane's final match, this piece captures one of the most iconic episodes in modern French football history," Aguttes said. Originally won in an Adidas contest, the owner preserved it since 2006. The online sale opened October 25 and estimates €15,000-30,000, coinciding with Zidane's return as manager.
