Messi returns to Inter Miami training after World Cup break

Inter Miami welcomed Lionel Messi back to training on Wednesday, just ten days after Argentina’s 1‑0 defeat to Spain in the World Cup final. The club shared footage of Messi stepping onto the pitch alongside Luis Suárez, marking his first appearance since spending time with family in Rosario. Messi had described the emotional toll of the loss as “immense,” noting it would take time to heal.

Coach Guillermo Hoyos previously said there was no fixed return date for Messi or Rodrigo De Paul, stressing the physical and mental exhaustion of a World Cup run. Both players were excused from the MLS All‑Star Game, normally mandatory, due to the short turnaround. Messi has not yet confirmed whether he will continue with the national team.

Inter Miami host Columbus Crew on Saturday before beginning their Leagues Cup campaign next week against San Luis, though Messi’s competitive return date remains unannounced.
