Stones arrives at Inter on free transfer

Inter have officially confirmed the arrival of John Stones on a free transfer following the expiration of his contract with Manchester City. The 30‑year‑old centre‑back has signed a deal running until 2028 and is expected to play a major role in Cristian Chivu’s revamped defensive structure. Stones joins after a decade at City, where he became a key figure under Pep Guardiola and remained prominent during England’s recent World Cup campaign, making five appearances under Thomas Tuchel.

Juventus, Arsenal and Chelsea had all shown interest, but Inter convinced the defender with their long‑term project. Stones leaves Manchester City after 295 matches, 19 goals, nine assists and a haul of domestic and international trophies from one of the club’s most successful eras. Having previously represented Barnsley and Everton, this move marks his first experience outside England. He arrives as Inter seek to reinforce their back line following the departures of Francesco Acerbi and Stefan de Vrij.
