Michael Carrick will remain Manchester United manager after the club reportedly decided to give him another opportunity to reverse the team’s fortunes.
According to journalist Ben Jacobs, United’s hierarchy has opted against making an immediate change despite a disastrous start to the Premier League campaign. The decision follows a heavy 3-0 defeat to Bournemouth, after which captain Bruno Fernandes publicly criticised the team’s performance.
United have endured their worst league start in 40 years under Carrick and currently sit with only seven points, leaving them 14 points behind leaders Arsenal and Manchester City.
Carrick will therefore take charge of Saturday’s meeting with Chelsea, with the fixture potentially playing a decisive role in determining his long-term future at Old Trafford.
The former United midfielder has been handed more time to deliver an improvement, but expectations are clear: the Red Devils need results quickly if Carrick is to retain the confidence of the club’s hierarchy.
