Guillermo Ochoa received an emotional farewell from Club América, with the Mexican giants unveiling a spectacular tifo at the Estadio Azteca before their Liga MX match against Pachuca.
Ochoa, who joined América’s academy as a child and made his senior debut in 2003, remains one of the club’s most iconic figures. He made 418 appearances for the team before embarking on a distinguished international and club career.
Visibly moved by the tribute, the former goalkeeper thanked the supporters and recalled arriving at América aged just 10 with the dream of becoming a professional and playing at the famous stadium.
Ochoa’s final international appearance came at the WC against the Czech Republic, following a spell with Cypriot side AEL Limassol. He had previously played for Portuguese club AVS during the 2024/25 season.
For Mexico, Ochoa made history by appearing at six World Cups, joining an elite group alongside Cristiano Ronaldo and Lionel Messi.
