Luis Tralhão has left Torreense after the Portuguese club agreed to terminate his contract by mutual consent, bringing an unexpected end to a remarkable chapter.
Tralhão guided Torreense to their first Portuguese Cup triumph last season, defeating Sporting Lisbon 2-1 in the final. The historic success also secured a place in the Europa League league phase, despite the club remaining outside Portugal’s top flight.
Torreense made an impressive European start by beating Norwegian side Lillestrøm 2-1 away from home, before narrowly losing 2-1 to Sunderland after conceding a late goal.
Domestic form, however, proved far more problematic. Competing in Liga Portugal 2, Torreense struggled to maintain consistency and found themselves in a difficult position near the bottom of the table. The demands of balancing domestic competition with European football added further pressure.
Tralhão now becomes available on the market, while Torreense must find a new coach capable of managing the club’s contrasting challenges.
The Portuguese coach’s departure comes just months after delivering the biggest trophy in the club’s history.
