Napoli coach Max Allegri has received a two-match suspension and a €10,000 fine following his dismissal during Saturday’s 3-3 draw with Roma.
Allegri was sent off shortly after Leonardo Balerdi’s late equaliser, with the Napoli manager furious over a suspected foul in the build-up. VAR ultimately confirmed the goal, prompting an angry reaction and a straight red card.
Serie A’s sports judge ruled that Allegri made an abusive remark towards match officials and later behaved aggressively towards a member of Roma’s staff in the dressing room.
The suspension means Allegri will miss Napoli’s league fixtures against Monza on Wednesday and Juventus on Sunday, as the club seeks to recover from a difficult run of form.
Napoli have won just one of their last four Serie A matches and currently sit 10th in the standings.
The club has announced that it will appeal the disciplinary decision, while Allegri has denied verbally abusing officials during the incident.
