G2 take down Astralis to move to IEM Cologne Grand Finale

G2 defeated Astralis in a two-map series to advance to the IEM Cologne title match. After snapping Astralis' seven-map victory run on Ancient (16-12), G2 doubled down and won easily on Inferno (16-9), capping out the series. After IEM Katowice in February, the group led by Rasmus "HooXi" Nielsen has finally advanced to their first Big Event championship game.

The international roster has struggled since their victory at the Polish event, even dropping out of the playoffs at the Paris Major, but they appear revitalized here in Germany and will undoubtedly try to maintain the positive trend in their grand final match against ENCE on Sunday at 19:30. Astralis, on the other hand, finish between third and fourth at IEM Cologne, but they can be content with the fact that this was just their second tournament with the inclusion of Victor "Staehr" Staehr and Johannes "b0RUP" Borup to their roster.
