Valtteri Bottas may already be at risk inside Cadillac’s Formula 1 project, with BILD and Sky Italia reporting that the team is evaluating a possible split only five races into its debut season. While early struggles were expected for a new entrant, Bottas’ performances have raised concern, especially compared with teammate Sergio Pérez. The Finn has yet to score points and has consistently trailed the Mexican, finishing only 13th in China as his best result.
According to the reports, Cadillac is seriously considering promoting Colton Herta, currently racing in Formula 2 with Hitech, a team supported by the American manufacturer. Herta also serves as Cadillac’s test and reserve driver after leaving IndyCar last season. Bottas, now 36, returned to Formula 1 this year following a 2025 absence, having ended his 2024 campaign with Sauber without scoring. Should Cadillac opt for a change, it would mark one of the earliest driver shake‑ups of the season.
