Silverstone secures MotoGP future with extension through 2028

Silverstone will remain a permanent stop on the MotoGP calendar through 2028 after agreeing a two‑year contract extension announced on the eve of the 2026 British Grand Prix. The renewal reinforces the circuit’s strategic importance for the championship and solidifies the United Kingdom’s role as a key market for global motorsport. MotoGP CEO Carmelo Ezpeleta highlighted the venue’s tradition and competitiveness, noting that eleven different winners in the last eleven races underline the track’s unpredictability and quality.

He said the extended agreement will allow continued investment in the event and strengthen MotoGP’s presence in the region. Silverstone CEO Stuart Pringle called the renewal a reaffirmation of the circuit’s vision and its ability to host elite international competitions, from MotoGP to Formula 1 and FIA endurance racing. Since returning to the calendar in 2010, Silverstone has staged some of the modern era’s most memorable races, with the 2027 date expected to remain in August despite broader scheduling discussions.
