Cadillac’s difficult debut season in Formula 1 has fuelled rumours around Sergio Perez’s future, especially after reports linking the Mexican driver to Williams. With the team yet to score a point and Perez sitting last in the standings, speculation intensified following suggestions that Carlos Sainz could leave Grove due to the car’s lack of competitiveness.
However, team owner and CEO Dan Towriss has firmly rejected any possibility of Perez departing. Speaking to the media, he stressed that the 36‑year‑old remains central to Cadillac’s project and will stay for 2027. Towriss praised Perez’s commitment and performance, adding that the team is not distracted by transfer talk.
New Team Principal Marcin Budkowski echoed the sentiment, highlighting the value of experienced drivers like Perez and Valtteri Bottas in a young organisation. He emphasised Perez’s influence both on track and behind the scenes, noting that his mentality, shaped by years at Red Bull, is exactly what Cadillac needs.
