Kim Lars Bjorkegren is set to take temporary charge of Ghana’s senior men’s team for their November double-header against Somalia, while the Ghana Football Association searches for a permanent replacement for Carlos Queiroz.
The Swedish coach is expected to oversee preparations during the upcoming international window. The recruitment deadline was extended to October 15, allowing the selection committee additional time to assess candidates. Queiroz left his position by mutual agreement on October 1 following Ghana’s disappointing defeats against Ivory Coast and The Gambia, which left the Black Stars without points from their opening two Group C matches.
Bjorkegren has led the Black Queens since January 2025, guiding them to bronze at the Women’s Africa Cup of Nations. He was also appointed a Black Stars assistant coach in February 2026.
The Somalia fixtures offer Ghana a crucial opportunity to revive their campaign and strengthen hopes of reaching the 2027 tournament.
