Fenerbahce have suffered a double injury setback, with Marco Asensio and Nathan Ake both ruled out after sustaining separate problems, the Turkish club confirmed on Wednesday.
Asensio underwent successful surgery in Spain to address a cartilage lesion in his left knee. The Spanish midfielder now faces approximately three months of rehabilitation, leaving Fenerbahce without a key attacking option during a crucial period of the campaign.
Ake, meanwhile, sustained a moderate strain and swelling in his right leg during Tuesday’s 2-2 Champions League draw against Slavia Prague in Istanbul.
The Dutch defender subsequently underwent an MRI scan at Atasehir Medicana Hospital, with the results indicating an expected absence of around three weeks.
The injuries present a challenge for Fenerbahce as they balance domestic commitments with European competition. The club will now have to manage its squad carefully while both players focus on their recovery and eventual return to action.
