Guirassy rises among Africa’s Champions League greats

Serhou Guirassy continues to strengthen his reputation as one of Europe’s most effective forwards. The 30-year-old Guinea international scored twice against Sabah, taking his tally to four goals in three Champions League appearances this season.

With 23 goals in the competition, Guirassy now ranks fifth among Africa’s all-time Champions League scorers. Mohamed Salah leads the standings with 50, followed by Didier Drogba on 44. Sadio Mané and Samuel Eto’o also remain ahead of the Dortmund striker.

Guirassy’s rise has gathered momentum in recent years. After breaking through with Stuttgart in 2023/24, he has continued delivering consistently in Germany. Since the 2022/23 season, he has scored 80 goals in 121 appearances across all competitions.

Beyond his club performances, Guirassy hopes to help Guinea qualify for the Africa Cup of Nations. For now, his European campaign offers another opportunity to climb the continent’s scoring charts.
