Joshua Zirkzee has been called up by Netherlands manager Xavi

Joshua Zirkzee has been called up by Netherlands manager Xavi Hernandez to replace Brian Brobbey, who suffered a muscle injury during Thursday’s Nations League match against Germany. Brobbey was forced off after 35 minutes and will miss the remainder of the international break, prompting the KNVB to confirm Zirkzee’s inclusion on Friday.

The Manchester United forward last featured for Oranje at Euro 2024, playing only four minutes across matches against England and Turkey. This season he has seen limited Premier League action, totalling just 20 minutes in appearances against Manchester City and Fulham.

The Netherlands continue their Nations League campaign today with a trip to Belgrade to face Serbia, before travelling to Greece and later hosting Serbia in Eindhoven to close out the international window. Zirkzee’s return offers Xavi an additional attacking option as the team navigates a demanding schedule.
