Aubameyang sidelined for two months after knee surgery

Pierre‑Emerick Aubameyang will be out for around two months after undergoing surgery on the meniscus in his right knee, Deportivo La Coruña announced on Thursday. The 37‑year‑old felt discomfort during Sunday’s draw with Real Betis and travelled to Madrid for the operation, with the club confirming he will return to La Coruña to begin rehabilitation. His recovery timeline will depend on progress in the coming weeks.

Spanish reports indicate the former Arsenal and Chelsea forward is expected to miss nearly two months of action. Aubameyang has been central to Deportivo’s impressive return to La Liga, scoring five of the team’s ten goals as they sit seventh with ten points from seven matches.

Earlier this month, he retired from international duty, saying he felt “humiliated” after being singled out by Gabon’s government following the country’s disappointing 2025 Africa Cup of Nations campaign. His absence now leaves Deportivo without their most reliable scorer.
