United post bigger losses despite record revenue surge

Manchester United reported a £43 million net loss for the financial year ending June 30th, despite announcing record revenues of £677.6 million, a 1.7 percent rise. The club posted its seventh consecutive annual loss after tax, with co‑owner Jim Ratcliffe’s cost‑cutting measures offset by contractual payments to former manager Ruben Amorim and increased loan repayments.

The figures reflect a turbulent 2025/26 season in which Michael Carrick replaced Amorim and guided United back to the Champions League. Broadcasting income rose nearly 20 percent thanks to a third‑place Premier League finish, but commercial and matchday revenue each fell by around five percent due to the absence of European fixtures. Accounts also revealed £8.2 million in exceptional costs tied largely to Amorim’s departure and a £63.5 million land purchase near Old Trafford for a proposed 100,000‑seat stadium. CEO Omar Berrada said the results show underlying strength, though United have started the new season poorly.
