In a 137-131 victory over the Denver Nuggets in San Francisco on Thursday, the Golden State Warriors overcame Aaron Gordon's career performance thanks to a late 3-pointer from Stephen Curry and a three-pointer from Al Horford and Jimmy Butler in overtime.
Two days after defeating the Los Angeles Lakers on the road to start the season, the Warriors fell behind 125-123 in the extra period before a 12-2 rally that was sparked by a 3-pointer from Horford and ended with a layup from Curry with 23.9 seconds remaining. Mostly due to his 10-for-11 3-point shooting, Curry finished with a team-high 42 points, eight points short of Gordon's career-high 50. Gordon was supplemented by Nikola Jokic, who had 21 points, 13 rebounds, and 10 assists in an opening game, his third consecutive triple-double. Jokic's fourth triple-double in a season opener also equaled Oscar Robertson’s record.
