Originally appointed for the Ireland series, former skipper Mohammad Ashraful will now continue indefinitely as Bangladesh’s batting coach. The BCB’s cricket chairman Nazmul confirmed this decision to press, indicating Ashraful is set to join the management for the upcoming T20 World Cup, potentially extending his tenure through the 2027 ODI tournament pending results.
Nazmul commended Ashraful’s genuine enthusiasm and swift adaptation, arguing that despite his limited experience, he possesses the essential characteristics and tactical understanding required for success.
Additionally, Mohammad Salahuddin remains the senior assistant coach after officials declined his resignation letter and successfully negotiated his continued involvement in the national setup. Nazmul also outlined a fluid policy wherein coaches will rotate between the national side, A-team, and High-Performance units based on specific needs. Consequently, both Ashraful and Salahuddin are expected to assist head coach Phil Simmons today during a brief T20I training camp at the Sher-e-Bangla National Cricket Stadium.
