Rising star Dinusha claims ICC monthly award

Sri Lankan all-rounder Sonal Dinusha has clinched his first ICC Men's Player of the Month award for August 2026. The talented left-handed batter totally dominated the recent ICC World Test Championship series against India, finishing as the leading run-scorer with 420 runs. He maintained a stellar 140 average, smashing three centuries and one fifty across just two games.

Dinusha scored 100 and 84 during the opening Test defeat. He then engineered a brilliant, gritty rescue mission in Colombo, hitting crucial twin centuries of 103 and 133 not out to secure a memorable draw and prevent a series sweep.

Having debuted last year against Bangladesh, the grateful youngster expressed deep appreciation for this prestigious honour, vowing to improve further.
