Mohammed Siraj will captain in the Ranji Trophy games

Mohammed Siraj has been appointed captain of the Hyderabad squad, marking his first leadership stint with the state team. Taking over from Rahul Singh, who becomes vice-captain, Siraj will lead Hyderabad in crucial Ranji Trophy home matches against Mumbai and Chhattisgarh later this month.

Currently fourth in Elite Group D, Hyderabad welcomes the pacer back after his national duties with India’s ODI team. The 31-year-old veteran brings vast experience from 109 internationals and 88 total first-class matches, where he has claimed 309 wickets. Playing specifically for Hyderabad, Siraj has secured 77 scalps at an impressive average.

The P Hari Mohan-led selection panel also drafted Aman Rao Perala, following his recent double century. Siraj’s tenure begins on January 22 against Mumbai, followed by the final league fixture versus Chhattisgarh. This strategic leadership change aims to revitalize Hyderabad, who currently hold just one win and a draw from their previous five games.
