Pakistan is bringing back Babar, Shadab and Naseem for T20 World Cup

Pakistan have recalled Babar Azam, Shadab Khan, and Naseem Shah for the 2026 T20 World Cup, marking significant changes from the previous Asia Cup group. However, participation remains subject to government approval, confirmed by head coach Aaqib Javed. While selectors have finalized the 15-man roster, they await the final decision regarding travel clearance.

Salman Ali Agha retains the captaincy after leading the side recently. Notable omissions include Haris Rauf, Mohammad Wasim Jnr, and Mohammad Rizwan, who remains notably sidelined. Conversely, regular players like Shaheen Afridi, Fakhar Zaman, and Saim Ayub have successfully retained their places.

The squad features maiden mega-event call-ups for players including Khawaja Mohammad Nafay and Sahibzada Farhan. The team is scheduled to play a home series against Australia before opening their World Cup campaign against the Netherlands in Colombo on February 7. The PCB emphasized that while the squad is ready, the government holds the final authority.
