Cricket South Africa has officially recalled former captain Dane van Niekerk for the upcoming white-ball series against Ireland, ending her four-year absence from the national team. The 32-year-old, who reversed her retirement in August, earned her spot in both the ODI and T20I squads following a dominant domestic performance with Western Province, where she recorded four half-centuries in her last six innings.
This series, scheduled between December 5 and 19, serves as a strategic opportunity for South Africa to widen its player pool in preparation for the Women's T20 World Cup, which is now just eight months away.
Alongside Van Niekerk, the squads feature other notable returnees, including batter Faye Tunnicliffe and leg-spinner Seshnie Naidu, who have both been rewarded for their recent form on the domestic circuit.
